The Birth of Gandhiji–God’s Gift to World

The Birth of Gandhiji – God’s Gift to
World - paintings by Vinod Raval
Humanity is fundamental to the progress of mankind. Nature and its resources are God’s gifts. Even all living beings including man are God’s gifts or creations. Why then should we have thoughts and emotions like greed, envy, anger, hatred, revenge, ownership etc? it is such thoughts and emotions that lead to violence and lack of peace in society.
To have happy and peaceful world, as our creator would desire it to be, we need to live with love and justice with all our fellow beings. This is what humanity is. This is what Mahatma Gandhi preached and practiced.
A man of Simple living and High thinking, Gandhiji dedicated his life to the selfless cause of promoting love and justice in society. He fought for the rights of those whom the society looked down upon. He fought for the freedom of India considering it to be the basic right of the people of India against the unjust foreign rule imposed on them. The prime elements visible in his actions were selflessness and non-violence. He also believed that communal harmony is an important need for humanity.
The physical hardships that he had to bear in his struggles are evidence of the degree of conviction that he had in truth. It is for this reason that the great physicist Albert Einstein said the following words for him:
“ Generation to come….will scarcely believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.”
Three bullets killed physical Gandhiji, but till today his spirit is living and its relevant for the guidance of the mankind.
This is my humble attempt to express the life and work of this great Mahatma through the medium of full-tone charcoal drawing on paper.
